Max Homa, a six-time PGA Tour winner, has recently shared his reasons for leaving X (formerly Twitter). In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Homa opened up about his positive experience away from social media, particularly X, which he described as 'truly awful'.
Homa, who once had a large social media following, found himself addicted to the platform. However, a conversation with a friend changed his perspective. He realized that just like he would leave a party if someone was being a jerk, he didn't have to stay on X and take the abuse. This newfound freedom has been 'lovely'.
Despite missing some aspects of social media, such as getting sports news, Homa has found alternative ways to stay informed. He now relies on friends and important events to keep up with the latest news, ensuring he doesn't miss out on significant occurrences in the world. Homa believes that focusing on oneself is crucial, and social media can often be a source of unnecessary stress and criticism.
The golfer's decision to leave X aligns with his desire to prioritize his well-being and mental health. He encourages others to do the same, stating, 'I think more people should take steps to focus on themselves. You don't need to get yelled at about how awful things are or how terrible you are at golf. You can just go manage that by yourself.'
Homa's success on the PGA Tour, including wins at the Wells Fargo Championship, Genesis Invitational, and Fortinet Championship, serves as a testament to his dedication and talent. His decision to step away from X is a reflection of his commitment to personal growth and a healthier lifestyle.
