Imagine a social media influencer with thousands of followers, but instead of sharing dance trends or comedy sketches, they’re seeking out a bomb-making tutorial linked to one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in recent history. This is the chilling reality of Adam Mahmood’s story, a TikToker who has now been jailed for downloading a video believed to have been used by the Manchester Arena bomber. This wasn’t just any tutorial—it was the same one suspected to have been used in the Manchester Arena bombing and a failed attack on a London Underground train at Parsons Green. The video didn’t stop at explosives; it also detailed how to pack the bomb with ball bearings to maximize its lethality. Mahmood last accessed the video in March 2024, just a week before his arrest, leaving little doubt about his ongoing interest in its contents.
And this is the part most people miss: When police raided Mahmood’s home, they didn’t just find a phone with a dangerous video. In his bedroom, they discovered an 'arsenal of weapons,' including knives, a ball bearing gun, and—you guessed it—ball bearings.
